Deer Cottage

I’ve been banging on to those who know me about needing a holiday for a while. Really, I need a bit of a writing retreat to work on new material and calm my brain down, but not of the sort where other writers are there. I’m quite antisocial, I like that writing is a solitary occupation. I even prefer to make music on my own or via remote collaboration these days.

Anyway, my friend’s family have just started a website for their gorgeous newly-renovated two-bedroomed holiday cottage in the Ribble Valley, Deer Cottage, and now I’ve got a real itching to go there. It’s got a balcony for summer and a log-burning stove for winter, so it’s sorted for our current unsettled climate, and frankly it’s more than a bit beautiful.

It’s cosy, but is perfect for couples and small families (master bedroom and single bedroom) and I hope to go there soon.
